I have done some mindmapping in my work. It helps me very much to think about the setup of a new project. 1. I start with the initial title of my project 2. I then draw some boxes that are related to this project. That can be anything: involved departmens, stakeholders, activities, communication, etc. 3. Then I try to find relations between the boxes 4. I also try to find the risks and the pittfalls.
Mindmapping is a very good tool for brainstorming as well.
