Kersti Toming and David Lamas participated on LLP (ICT) project CoCreat‘s kickoff meeting in Oulu, Finland.
CoCreat is a three year long project which expectedly will lead the way in new solutions for promoting creative collaboration in terms of new and innovative learning models based on social media and mobile technology.
Expected results are:
- Models of how creative collaboration can be structured using notions of collaborative learning
- Promotion of creative collaboration with development of collaborative spaces using mobile technology and social media; and
- Practical and methodological guidelines to support the design and evaluation of creative collaboration.
And foreseen impact is to provide learners with the abilities to:
- Act in dynamic learning situations;
- Exploit technological solutions to support creative collaboration; and
- Solve real-life problems in creative and collaborative ways.
HTK will mainly contribute towards the design, implementation and evaluation of two (out of five) collaborative spaces targeting higher education students.

Center for Educational Technology is now part of Nordic Network of National Centres of Excellence 2008.
NordLearn is a co-operation in research and research training between four universities in the area of learning and (digital) media. The research foci concern both theoretical problems about the consequences of media development for human learning and knowing, and applied issues of how digital resources may be used to support learning activities in schooling, adult training, on-the-job learning etc.
The four core partners are: the Linnaeus Centre for Research on Learning, Interaction and Mediated Communication (LinCS) at the University of Gothenburg (a national CoE), Intermedia at the University of Oslo, Centre for Learning Research at the University of Turku, and the Centre for Educational Technology at Tallinn University. In all, about 30 senior scholars, about 33 post-docs and around 70 Ph. D. students are active in these groups, and the teams represent a broad range of disciplines of significance for the area.

The aim of NordLearn is to co-ordinate research and research training at the four units, and to share technical and human resources.
The ambition is that NordLearn will function as one unit in large-scale international co-operations. NordLearn will offer courses and seminars for researchers and Ph. D. students from other Nordic and international research groups.
Common topics:
The logic of participating and learning in knowledge practices: schooling, science centres and networking in social websites (web 2.0)
Knowing and technologies: representation and mediation of professional knowledge and transformation of professional knowing
The emergence and transformation of mathematical knowing and the role of representational technologies: the intersection between culture and cognition of learning to reason
New conceptions of human competences and their development (collaborative skils, problem solving, reciprocal understanding, using technologies etc.)
