Hi folks,
Let’s wrap up the course.
There is one last task to do:
Please reflect in your blog what was your personal impression of participating such a course. In this course you studied about the aspects of e-learning. What else did you study? Think about:
- collaborating with others;
- taking responsibility for your own learning.
This is the last task which is going to be part of your grade.
Furthermore, your honest impressions, thoughts, critics, feedback, comments etc. about the course are more than welcome.
Deadline for finishing all the tasks for this course is Friday 6th of June. So, take a look at your personal weblogs and finish all the tasks. Later posts for grading will not be accepted.
Grades will be given to you next week.
iCamp team asks your permission (please send your permissions to terjev@tlu.ee or kai.pata@tlu.ee) to use the contents of your personal weblog, group wiki and other social tools for data-collection purposes of the iCamp project.
Thank you very much for taking part in this challenging experience!
All the best!

Hi folks,
We are almost in the end
Most of the groups have announced their courses and evaluation forms, but there are still some groups missing (look at the comments of the post http://htk.tlu.ee/elearning/blog/2008/05/12/
tasks-for-week-11-12th-18th-of-may/#comments)
By the end of this week all the courses should be evaluated. Everybody should evaluate at least one course. Choice is yours.
Please take a critical look at your personal weblogs and finish all the tasks that were required during the course.
Reflection activities for this week:
Take a look at your contracts and reflect on your final learning experiences in personal learning contracts: How well could I fulfill my goals?
Let’s keep going and put our last effort on this course!

Let’s finalize our course design and develop an evaluation plan. We should put the links of our course design and evaluation plans as comments to either this post or previous post here. Everybody should evaluate one course. But if you want to get feedback from certain persons contact them directly.
As soon as you have got some feedback from others as a group start to analyse data received from peer-reviews, decide what must be improved in your course-designs.
Finally reflect on your learning experiences following reflection template.

What to expect from this week?
According to the schedule in Moodle we should be at the final stage of our prototype courses. We have designed a course in groups: we have found the topic of the course, we have created the learning environment, where the course is going to take place, we have provided some content as an example that is going to be in our course, we have come up with the tasks and assignments, we have defined the ways how we are going to evaluate our students in this course.
Now we should let the others to tell their opinion about our course design. Perhaps they have some ideas, thoughts, constructive feedback. But in order to let other groups to evaluate our course design we should think of what we want them to evaluate e.g. criteria that they are going to take into account while evaluating our course design. Formative evaluations can be in essay format or we can develop a small online questionnaire using Doodle or …. it’s up to us what kind of feedback and how we expect from others.
Thus, first task in groups is to create an evaluation plan for our course. As we all have done an individual task about the good course criteria (remember?) it should be easy to come up with the evaluation plan. Take a look at the criteria and voting system as examplea in Moodle under the assessment part.
Second task for this week is to present our course prototype with evaluation plan to other groups. Therefore, we (as a group) should leave the links of our course prototype as comments to this post. In this way we can collect all the prototypes of courses and have access to them. In addition we should also indicate, where to find our evaluation plan. If we want particular persons to evaluate our course we should also mention this.
Evaluation should be done individually (every student should choose at least one course to evaluate), however group evaluation is acceptable. Deadline for sending our opinions and feedback about other courses is 23rd of May. But by the end of this week (18th of May) we should have all the course prototypes advertised here as comments of this post with evaluation plan.
Besides of the group activities we also have to reflect on course readings in our personal blogs: How to formatively evaluate e-learning course designs? and on our learning experiences according to the reflection template.
Looking forward to see your prototypes of courses.

Hello everybody,
We have couple of weeks left to finish our course design. This week we should continue working as a team to prepare the course outline and fill in the learning environment with assignments, learning and assessment materials. Please note that you don’t have to create the whole learning material for the whole course. It is enough if you can put couple of links referring to the articles or videoclips or…More important is the design of the course itself (description) e.g. what are the goals, activities, tasks; how are you going to evaluate the students who hypothetically take your course, what are the tools and services you plan to use, etc. Kai posted couple of weeks ago a course prototype plan: http://htk.tlu.ee/elearning/blog/2008/04/16/how-to/. We recommend you to take this as a basis.
This week we haven’t planned any extra reading material for you, so you can concentrate on your group work.
Good luck!

Hello,
We are already in the beginning of May! Spring has arrived, at least to Estonia
Anybody experiencing “a seasonal affective disorder”
? I am…
According to our schedule there is not much time left. Thus I recommend you to speed up with your individual tasks and group activities. As you can see in Moodle our course design should be more or less ready by the 10th of May as we should present our group works to other groups and get some feedback from them to improve our course design. By the end of May all the groups should have their courses ready. I also recommend to take a look at the assessment criteria of this course in Moodle to get an overview of your tasks we are going to assess in order to give you the final grade.
The goal of this week: Learning from the peers.
Groupmates peer-review each other’s contracts, reflections and prepared materials, and give feedback on how to be more effective on personal tasks, and how to improve the quality of their work. So be active and give constructive comments on each others’ contributions.
Of course, don’t forget your weekly reflection on your learning experiences.
Have a nice spring!

Hello everybody,
How are you doing?
This week’s tasks related to group work:
We all should now work on our course materials, developing course activities and assessment methods keeping in our minds the tools and specific learning environment where our course will take place. As it is a group work, keep your individual work visible to others (whatever tools or environment you choose to use) in order to get some feedback and comments from your groupmates. Please keep in mind that we don’t have to create the whole material for our course, but couple of examples for 2-3 lessons.
Individual tasks:
- In the end of this period we should take a look at our individual efforts in accordance with our learning contracts and make modifications in the contract if needed.
- We should fill in the online tool-usage survey if we haven’t done it yet.
- We should reflect on course readings in our blogs. The question for this week is: From the perspective of my tasks in our workgroup, what did I learn from theoretical materials, how to make/use the course materials/activities/assessment/tools?
- We should reflect on our learning experiences in our personal blogs.
Let’s be creative!

Dear Kai,could it be possible to give students a little bit more information about the “course prototype plan” they are doing/preparing
- many have asked me what should the course content be like etc. - I have answered that it’s not so important to think about their course content (if they want to do biology course etc.) but to think about the course design issues… I hope I have adviced them right.
Tiina Hamalainen
Prototype plan should involve
- main aim of the prototype course (what competences, knowledge will be given),
- target group description (who are the students),
- topics (eg. experiences from new e-learning, plusses and minuses of using blogs in education, how does social networking work etc.),
- materials of the module (2-3 lessons for example, this can be solved as the links to materials, but they can compile something by themselves preferrably they could use what they learned at this course and what they wrote in their reflections as source for compiling prototype course materials),
- activities in these lessons (descriptions and tasks, eg. presentation rules, groupwork instructions),
- assessment plan and methods (eg. peer assessment is done how? final test is done etc)
- description how facilitation takes place
- resources (tools) for the activities, facilitation, assesment (eg. concept mapping tool, synchronous chat tool).
Secondly the course environment description is needed (can be a figure, scheme too) in the beginning and later these materials need to be compiled into this environment.

Hello,
We are in the middle of our course, already! Hopefully busy discussion is going on in your groups. This week we should concentrate on our course environment. On the basis of individual reflections we should come on a common ground, what is the best learning environment setting for our course and assembling this learning environment (either it is one single application or many connected applications). We should register to these applications if needed, we should provide access to others if needed, etc. By the end of this week it should be ready enough to start adding some content in it.
We encourage you to monitor and comment each others’ reflections, to fill in the tool-usage survey (see previous post), to reflect on your learning process, to think of which type of learning environment is suitable for your course.
See you around!
